Student Experience
Supporting Student Experience leaves a lasting impact beyond the classroom and inspires students to think bigger, give back to the community and make their own impact on society.
Last year’s Giving Day supported an impressive 32 staff and student-led projects. These were all made possible by the generosity of our community through the Chancellor’s Fund. Thanks to this support, our students have engaged in outreach in Kenya, hosted British Sign Language training cafes, conducted expeditions, toured with the Chapel Choir, supported student athletes, invested in the student magazine and achieved so much more.
The Chancellor’s Fund supports initiatives that have the potential to make a significant impact but that may not get funding elsewhere. Twice a year, we award funds to projects aimed at enhancing the student experience, improving the learning environment, promoting sustainability, promoting academic advancement and improving the University as a whole.
The Glasgow experience goes far beyond lectures and exams and this Fund empowers students to push boundaries, get involved in something new and be part of something bigger. Over the years, it has widened access to internships, field trips and expeditions as well as introduced students to new cultures and ideas and supported essential areas like the student newspaper. Its reach is felt across campus even in the gardens it has helped plant and the buildings it has supported.
However, with the rising number of applications and growing project costs, the demand on the Chancellor’s Fund has never been greater. Your support is crucial to ensuring we can continue to enhance every aspect of life at UofG.
